Random --- TWO trucks?

This is really random, but any of you guys have two trucks just for yourself (i.e. not for the wife or kids)? Been kinda tossing the idea around of getting a Tacoma to be able to use the bed when needed and probably more for hauling. This would be in addition to my 4Runner :)

I'm working on picking up a third gen. I love the look and would be nice to have in addition to my fourth gen.
 
Haha... great to hear I'm not the only one who's crazy enough to do this. Looking into getting a 2nd gen Tacoma access cab 4x4, preferably with TRD offroad package. If I want lockers on my T4R down the road, I can always go the ARB route to have both front and rear. I probably won't even consider than until my drivetrain warranty expires though.
 
I am that guy. Both the 5th Gen and an older Tacoma for my own use. The Tacoma has the open bed that is great for all that stuff that cannot go internal to the 4Runner (gravel, sand, wet wood, dead deer etc).
 
Up until June of this year I had three......a tidy 3rd Gen for daily road use & two not so tidy 2nd Gens for the dirt/fun. Sadly one of my beloved 2nd Gens became so poorly I was forced to let her go & so now down to one of each again.

When the time comes I tend to purchase a truck in good condition with low mileage & eventually, when that truck starts becoming a tad 'worn' (8-10 years) I then take her off road & purchase another....so on & so forth.

That's not counting the JR Supercharged Eunos Roadster (Mk1 Miata) & the KLR 650.
 
I'd like to get an IFS pickup for daily driving and go-fast duties - Tacomas are great, but I'd settle for anything '86-'94 too. It'd be nice to be able to retire my '85 to toy status and stop racking up miles.

I have a 97 4Runner and 02 Tacoma both supercharged. I love them both!

I also daily drive a Subaru.
 
2013 Chevy 3500HD 4X4 crew cab long bed daily driver

The 4runner is for tow duty & the occasional snow in our driveway. However, we have put way more miles on the 4runner than anticipated. I can't keep her out of it lol.
 
I'm close to joining this club...lol

I am going to be making a decision on a 4th gen (03-04) V8 4WD. This will be in addition to my 2012 Tundra Crewmax. The Crewmax is a lease and I'm not sure I'm keeping it after the lease. Need the 4Runner for daily driving and woods/hunting etc. need to keep the scratches & miles off of the Tundra. It is growing on me though. I may just keep it in the end, but we will see...
 
Coming from a "I always had a truck since I was kid...(a long, long time ago...) I now use a utility trailer to do the dump/lumber yard runs.

Not quite as convenient as a pick up, but I doesn't need gas, insurance, and up keep like a second vehicle .

If the 4Runner does a good job towing my camper then I am thinking I might go your way. Buy a nice dump trailer for yard work & hauling large items and go with one vehicle. I don't know if the new ones have a better tow rating but it would be nice if they do!
 
there's a nice 97 3rd gen that i went to look at with a friend up in hagerstown, md. it was 5 speed, sr5, green no locker. very little rust.. i was surprised how little rust. with 116k. it drove great. the ONLY reason my friend didn't buy it is because it seems the guy is middle manning it and his name isn't on the title. if any of you care to deal with that, i suggest you go see it. the only area that has been painted is the rear hatch which he "didnt" know about and the rear metal bumper has had repairs done probably to fix the rust issue that must of them have back there.

i have been thinking of how i can buy it for myself, but it would be my 3rd vehicle.. but an amazing one at that especially since i miss having a 5 speed something.

Same here. Works great for me, since the utiity trailer (pickup substitute) is only used 4 or 5 times a year.
 
I guess if a guy has 1) space, 2) money enuf, 3) permission, there's no reason not to scratch that itch. After all, what man wouldn't like to have a cool old truck?

I always preferred trailers tho, one for the yard tractor, and one for firewood/lumber/dirt etc..... so much simpler and cheaper.
 
I my be a bit of a black sheep to some of the T4R crowd, but I also have a Jeep XJ in addition to my 5th gen. Gotta have a dependable SUV while I'm working on the XJ! ;) I also have my Miata to zip through the canyons with. Single driver.
 
I want to get another third gen, one with a blown motor so I can put a v8 or search around to find a diesel to retrofit (lots of fab)
