I am getting occasional vibrations from the gas pedal on my V8 4Runner. Has anyone else experienced this?
Can you be a little more specific? As in when does it vibrate? Is it upon acceleration or decel? High/low/idle speed? I’m trying to think about the series of connections from the pedal to the throttle body, or if anything’s making contact with the mechanism or the firewall. It’s odd though.
Any vibration in steering wheel at the same time?
Your gas pedal is electronic, there is no linkage connected to the engine so if you're feeling a vibration in the pedal I would think it's coming off the floorboard.
Check to see if it's coming through the steering wheel for possible CV issues if AWD, check to see if it happens at certain RPMs, also if it goes away when you let off the gas. Is a V8 or V6?
Mine does this, I think it's my cracked exhaust manifold resonating at certain rpm ranges. As the engine heats up both that symptom and the noise improve and on a hot enough day more or less disappear entirely. But like the above poster said, anything that could cause vibration in the floorboards could cause it. Maybe even play in motor mounts?
Hard to say, but they seem to be directly correlated to each other in my experience in the 2000 miles I've put on my 4 runner since buying it. I've never driven one that wasn't cracked so I couldn't compare. Maybe some guys that fixed their headers can comment if they had the same thing. It's relatively minor, imo, but I immediately noticed it because of how weird it feels compared to the pedal in my MDX. Then I found out it's an electric pedal.Okay. That makes sense. I have the ticking manifold too so maybe that's it?
