Hi Guys, i have a month old 2012 LE,i started hearing this noise whenever im closing my door from inside.as soon as i pull the handle i would hear this squicking plastic noise.in a few minutes i found out its coming from the window control panel.it making some kind of noise whenever im pressing the cover. Its happening on all 4 window panels.it doesnt make a noise whenever im driving. It seems to be louder when its cold. I went to the dealer and they told me that the window panel is secure. The drove 6 miles and it doesnt make any rattling noise.they really cannot do anything with that noise.im wondering if other people have this problem? Can it be fix?tnx in advance for the reply.

Yeah, they do that. More prevalent when it's cold outside.
It's like if you go to your Doctor complaining that whenever you touch your arm it hurts, and the Doctor tells you: "Well, don't touch your arm..."

Enjoy the rest of your new 4Runner that doesn't squeak, because it's awesome! :)

Tnx Antman.
i just thought since its a new car it should be very very quiet.my old 06 4runner took 6 yrs before it started rattling and vibrating from inside. I really cant stand the noise thats why i got a new one. So far on this new one no vibration or rattling when its moving.
Does This sound from door control panel cover go away when the weather is hot?Anybody tried to fix this problem?

I bought mine 2011 new 6 months ago. I have a light rattle between the drivers door and the rear passenger door. It has been drives me nuts because its right at ear level. I am thinking it may go way once the weather changes.

Here is your problem and it's fix:

Different materials (eg plastics on door panel different from control panel cover different from switch) especially plastics, have a different thermal expansion rate. That is, your control panel cover expands or contracts at a different rate than the door panel during temperature deltas. All plastics are not equal and there are several types of plastics in the 4Runner.

Now, every component is built to a tolerance of some dimension. It sounds like you were unlucky and got one that was at the far limits of the dimensional tolerance and it is just enough to rattle when it gets cold.

Solution: Take it back to the dealer and tell them to remove it and put some type of sealant around the inside of the control. Tell them even though it is fastened securely it is NOT fastened tightly, hence the rattle. If they balk ask when their Toyota Rep is due and schedule an appointment to talk to him. They will fix it. Good luck!
