Hello 4th Gen world! I have come to you from the land of wrecked 3rd gens. A lady pulled out in front of me while I was going 45 and my lovely Canadian 1999 Limited was totaled.

I have replaced it with this very clean 2008 Limited V8. I love this thing! Drives so smooth, powerful, quiet. VERY excited! It was a one owner truck from Fresno, CA, and it has full service history. 148k Miles, timing belt/pump was done at 80k.

It's got 18's, XREAS, zero rust, new factory floor mats, Nav + Cd changer, and nice carpet/seats. No rear air suspension.

My primary use of my 3rd gen aside from almost daily driving was NW woods exploring, so this truck will get the essentials to accomplish those goals. Winch and bumper will be first (leaning toward addicted offroad) and sliders and skids. A rack will be soon too.

Wow! What a find... I'm just so jealous of the lack of rust/low mileage. Every option on that thing except the air suspension.... absolutely PERFECT!

I have a very similar story. Also glad to move into the 4th gen section from the 3rd gen. Glad you are OK, your 3rd gen looks awful.

I was rear-ended on June 1. I think that was the same day you crashed your 1999. I had a perfect 1999 Black Sr5 that was totaled. I remember reading your post before I left work. Although I usually wear my seatbelt, I was thinking about your post and made sure I had my seatbelt on when I left work. Ten miles into my commute home I was hit from behind and knocked into a barrier, 1999 4R was totaled. It has a bent frame and the interior panels busted from the rear impact. It was a solid truck though the crash. Guy who hit me drove off and was caught five miles up the road. The police just had to follow the coolant trail he left.

Just last Thursday I purchased a 2008 Galactic Grey Mica Sport edition with 59,000 miles. Full service at a Toyota, two owners both got service done at the same Toyota dealer. Super clean interior, I swear I can pick up some remaining new car smell. XREAS, hood scoop, V6 4.0, big front brakes. I'll try to post a few pics. The 4th gens are so smooth! I did drive a V8 and they are even smoother than the V6 but this is a serious upgrade over the 1999. I've spoiled myself.

Jealous of your no rust chassis but I do have 59,000 miles

I had recently canceled my collision insurance because the value of my 1999 with 207,000miles was so low I deemed it not necessary. Well, I wish I got the $2200 or whatever now. I'll try to sell my totaled 3rd gen 4runner on craigslist.

Nice 4th gen, obviously, I got a very similar one.

Oh man, sorry to hear about yours too! It's such a shame, but I'm glad you were buckled up.

Great looking new truck! I'm going through the process of trying to decide on wheels/tires/bumpers and all that just like I did on my 3rd, and then I'll wait for black friday for everything to go on sale.

I've decided on my lift: (From Cruiser Outfitters)

Heavy Duty Kit 1.5"- 2" Lift
Ultimate Light/Medium Kit (Includes EVERYTHING) Part# OME4R4UHV - $855.00

Includes:
1 - OME 2884 Front Coil Springs (Pair)
2 - 90000 Front Nitrocharger Sport Shock Absorbers
1 - OME 2895 Rear Coil Springs (Pair)
2 - 60004/60005 Rear Nitrocharger Sport Shock Absorbers

I think the 884's will work fine with the 80lb addicted bumper and winch with synthetic line, and aluminum skids.

So are you going to just remove the XREAS shock at the check valve and leave the XREAS system in place?

You should just drive over to SW PDX and leave that in my drive.

I've made some progress!

I picked up a lightly used Front Runner Slimline II roof rack in Sacramento, and it's awesome.

I've also picked up the Metaltech OPOR bolt on sliders, and just ordered the Addicted Offroad 4th gen Hybrid Plate bumper.

I have a similar story, totaled 4th gen 12/24/16 and last week found my unicorn. Almost identical to yours except subtract 110k miles lol 2008 V8 Limited 4WD, 1 owner, flawless interior, Michelins, etc.
I was so angry about the first one getting wrecked (I was passenger) but after I found this one I don't feel so bad. Everything happens for a reason, right?

I just ripped the XREAS out of mine, good times. One side was low on oil and it was all milky, the other was fine. Now with the Bilsteins in it rides SO much better.

I recently started hearing a whine coming from under the hood, and narrowed it down to the PSP or the Alternator. After doing some research, it seems that whine is usually the alternator dying, and as predicted my dash lit up and the truck stalled. Luckily I was a couple blocks from home and my wife could tow me.

I picked up a remanufactured Denso Alt at NAPA for a couple hundred bucks and installed it, using tips found on this forum. Took about 4 hours give or take, about medium difficulty.

Ryan your 4R build is coming out great! Can't tell you how nice it is to see an old Rccrawler on another forum. I recently got into the 4runners and it seems like everyone wants to be on a FB group than forum these days.

I've now collected a large pile of parts! Hopefully Installation will commence in the next couple weeks.

-OME 2" Lift from Cruiser Outfitters
-Addicted Offroad Hybrid Bumper with Foglights, powdercoated black
- Metaltech OPOR Sliders, powdercoated black
- Warn 9.5 XP-S Winch
- RCI Aluminum Front Skidplate

I'll post up pictures when this all goes on.

The final mods will be ARB compressor and rear locker, and some tires for the 18" Limited factory wheels. I'm hoping to squeeze on some 32's. I have 1.25" Spidertrax spacers to fit also.
