RCI filler plate install

I have both the filler plate and front skid ready to install. I previously removed the "air dam/spoiler" dealio and just removed the last center portion of plastic (just behind bottom lip of bumper) to install the filler plate. Previous to removing this last center piece, the 2 or 3 additional corner areas of plastic still had areas to bolt in to but now that the large middle piece is gone those corner areas are really hanging and almost completely unsupported. There is no remaining area or anything to bolt/screw them in to. I would think at highway speed they would really shake and rattle and it appears as if at least one piece (per side) is there to channel air.

Have those of you who installed the filler plate removed these corner pieces? It just looks like there would be a lot of uncovered and exposed area under there without them and very loose bottom corners of the front fascia/bumper.

Mine has been fine. Everything bolts in correctly and I haven't had any problems. Try calling him up at rci. He's a really nice guy and can answer your questions. He walked me through some questions I had and I also talked with him at the shop for awhile up in the foco.

I can second this. I have one sitting in my garage that I haven't put on yet, but It looks straight forward enough. But definitely call them with any problems. I had a problem with my order (somehow ordered two filler plates instead of one) and I called to correct it. I ended up spending about 20 minutes on the phone with them talking about skid plates, trucks, bumpers, trails, and 4Runners for no real apparent reason. They're very nice and know their stuff!

I install mine with no issues and it screws in the two tabs that come out of the bumper. I also have BudBuilt skids front skid which was a direct fit with that plate too. No rattle while driving on the highway. I had to make three trips each is 360miles total and no issues so far.

I needed longer bolts up front and even then it took a bit of bending to get it in. But looks like it will perform as advertised.

That is a huge gap, when we spoke I though it was just little gap where you needed longer bolts, did you try flipping it around and see if it fits better. Mine went in like it was suppose to be there and I know John said that it fits for all the model trucks we got.

I needed to drill some holes for things to work with my Shrockworks skids. Other than that, it fit like a charm.

You know...something looks off from your pictures, are you running a front skid spacer? Is there any way for you to slide the RCI filler plate between the frame and the skid instead of how you have it installed?

I was really just concerned with how to "secure" the loose corner sections of what was left of the plastic "air dam" pieces after removing the main sections. The install of the filler plate and front skid went fairly straight forward except for some bad internal threading on one of the rear bolt holes.

I secured the loose plastic corner pieces with zip ties to the frame rail.

I will take some photos of mine this afternoon and post up. I have yet to install the filler plate and just using the air dam with the RCI front skid.

Something definitely looks off Philly...I have zero gap with mine and could even tuck my filler skid into the front bumper.

As Alex mentioned - is it upside down?

Otherwise, maybe they got the angles wrong on the version they sent you?

EDIT: After looking at it more I guess it looks ok? Just odd that some have had gaps and others don't. Maybe looks weird from the angles of the picture. Is antman over there taking the pics for you?

I need to get home and see how mine fits.

No i haven't done the conversion yet, but 4Shore(Mike) has trail and his lined up pretty good too as he mention before.

To add onto Jicko starting this question, I got the RCI plates through the recent group buy and I'm wondering if the bumper tabs are about 1.5" higher than the 2010-2013 bumpers? When I slide the bottom of the filler plate between the RCI front skid and the frame, then I have about a 1.5" gap from the top of the filler plate to the bumper tabs. I see that some had to get "longer bolts" but it doesn't look like you've pulled the bumper tabs down enough to compensate for this much of a gap...?

It also seems like the bumper tabs are about 1/4" further apart than the holes on the RCI skid. I might be able to get the bolts in without crossthreading due to being at an angle but until I solve for the gap I can't confirm (and if I try flipping it around, it bumps into a different part of the tab so I can't try it backwards).
