Real World MPG with 5th Gen?

I have a 2016 limited with just over 1000 miles on it
We have been seeing 17.5 mpg 90% highway driving in somewhat hilly areas.
I have been using Sunoco Ultra hoping for better results
Will mileage get better with more time / miles ?
I am guessing the full time 4x4 is killing me ?

We have a '15 LE and live in a hilly area as well, but mostly "country" roads or highway driving. We average about 20.2-20.5mpgs typically. Your mileage might get a little better with break-in too.

That depends entirely on what your definition of highway is. The highways around me tend to go back and forth between 10 MPH and 70 MPH every 30 seconds or so, so I usually average a combined 17 MPG.
If we're talking true highway with minimal traffic and no slowing down unnecessarily, I have reached a maximum of 25 MPG over a 150 mile trip with average speed of 55 MPH.

The computer says I average 14.5 with grappler G2s 585/70/r17 and front runner rack. Millage hasn't really changed with the rack. I do a lot of stop and go (including freeway) and I don't drive crazy but I'm not an old man either. Good to see I'm getting around the worst millage!

I've been averaging the same or worse. Last tank was 13.5mpg :embarassed:

I did my 30K oil change over the weekend to Pennzoil Platinum 0w20 and have been averaging 15.1 for the first 1/4 tank. I've also been trying to drive more conservatively but before the oil change I couldn't do more than 14.8 if I tried. Very mixed freeway and city driving with crappy traffic.

I will say anything over 65mph and MPG drops QUICK. Last road trip at 75mph was right around 13.2MPG. Hoping the new oil has the same impact on the highway trips out of town. Everything in town is 70MPH and under.

I think the Gobi rack and 42" LED light bar had the biggest impact on my mileage. Even more than the heavy 255/80/17 ST Maxx tires. Before the rack and light I think I between 14.8-15.8 depending on the tank.

I saw gas for $1.55 today so as long as that keeps up I don't mind the sh!t mileage.

This is all based on the dash MPG gauge as well.

I'm going with you - in Sacramento area I'm paying $2.38 now. But I'm glad we don't drive in Norway - $6.44 per gallon. :toilet3:

Getting 17mpg closer to 18 as of now. It is awesome. Normally getting 13.5 in my ram 1500 and 14.5 in my Nissan GT-R with full bolt ons

with just 23++ miles Im at around 18-19mpg. If my wife drives it it is somewhere 16-14mpg. A lot better than my Tundra TRD.

At about 5700lbs wet, full expedition configured rig...I get a little over 15.5. Barely. I'm interested to know how the snorkel affects aerodynamics in a few weeks.

Whatever the sticker on your B-pillar states. In my case, 32 PSI.
