I wish I could get the kind of MPGs that everyone seems to be getting stock. I have stock size Duratracs that are not even LT. I have a small roof basket on the factory roof rails. I consistently get about 14-16 avg. I am lucky to get 17 on the highway. Vehichle has 20,000 miles. I also only ever fill up with 100% gasoline. I have complained to the dealership multiple times that I have been getting abnormally low mpg but they just brush it off. Any ideas of what could be the issue would be greatly appreciated. It just seems odd to me that guys that have lifts and are running 285 LT rated tires are getting the same mpg as my basically stock vehicle.
Well then let's see if we can help you out:
1. Tell us how you calculate your MPG.
2. Tell us your mods, if any.
3. Tell us your typical driving day, i.e. city, 4 miles, interstate, etc.
4. Tell us how you drive, i.e. Fast, slow, aggressive, etc.
Give me that data and we will go from there.
I've since traded in for a new trail. But for the last one I had 265/70R17 Duratracs in passenger rating. I had a rola rack on factory crossbars and 2 KC daylighters attached to those. I tried to drive very conservatively but was never able to get higher than 16 average. That is with about 50/50 hwy/city. I calculated by taking mileage driven divided by gallons filled up.
2016-TRD-PRO. 15mpg,at 1,200 OD, I think that sucks for this day and age
All that stuff on your roof absolutely crushes gas mileage, take it off when you aren't using it. It always cracks me up how people will drive around with stuff like ski racks on all year because they think it makes them look adventurous.
It's used on a regular basis to carry my hunting/camping gear. My mods are not to "look adventurous", they are for function.
Been dialing in my tire pressure since throwing the Coopers on the truck. Lots of in town driving too... I need to 're-learn' with the heavier tires...
