Imagine that (this is my actual almost every day driving experience): Doing 55mph on flat straight country road approaching stop sign in about half mile ahead. Nobody's behind me, nobody's between me and the intersection where the stop sign is. I'm taking my foot of the gas pedal and just flowing to the stop sign. On "D" I hardly make it (engine breaking on 5th gear). When I switch to "N" after taking my foot off, I will make to the stop sign at 40mph (this truck is heavy and has lot of inertia). Of course 100 yards before the intersection before I start using my brakes I'm switching to "D" again.
So I don't see no danger to me or anyone, just asking if switching between "N" and "D" while driving 55mph does anything bad to automatic transmission.
Try using s-mode.
