Real World MPG with 5th Gen?

Ridiculous thread. You care about mpg but want body on frame? get a new JL.

Faulty logic. Only because fuel efficiency is not the first consideration does not mean it is of no consideration. Fuel efficiency is much better than expected. On a 3000+km trip on partly hilly terrain and pulling a utility trailer weighing 550kg, I got a calculated 13.7L/100km. And on a recent 1000+km trip driving on flat country and without the trailer, I got 10.3L/100km. That's much better than what's advertised and means a nice 800km range on a tank.

So I read that most who put on bigger tires do not need calibration and when checked with gps it's spot on. its written that the stock tires are small for the speedo. If that's true all stock tires are getting inflated mpg. Anyone ever clocked the stock tires against gps or radar?

My '19 has dealer installed 265/60-20 KO2's. Close to an inch taller than stock. Haven't checked it against my GPS yet, but the radar speedometer checkers say it's dead on. Being as they put a tune in for the supercharger, they may have done something with the speedo also. Went from 20's on my '13 Limited to the SR5 265/70-17's and it was GPS dead on also. My '15 Mustang GT was all over the freakin' place, but that's another story.

So far the '19 is getting 17-17.5 with rural and some highway. That's 'bout the same as my non-supercharged '13. I'm happy. Haven't done a long trip yet, that will come the end of July. Oh, just a 3K miles

Just filled up with my 4th tank this morning in my 2019 SR5. I've been in the 19mpg range for the first 3 tanks. I'm at 730ish miles, maybe 780? I fill up at 1/4 tank.

So I was able to answer my own question. A week ago I rented a runner for a day and stock it was spot on with radar and gps. Liked the rental so much and decided to buy one the next day, still stock, dash said 20, hand calc came out to 19 with 1st tank...but, speedo is slow 1 mph at 30 at 2 mph 40 plus.
Gives me a good reason for bigger tires.
So with 2 stock runners, one was accurate one was not. Kinds wonder why? Maybe parts were farmed out to a different vendor

Just did 8 hours of good mixed driving yesterday. Mix of hilly, winding blacktops, dirt road and interstate gave us 18.5 mpg w/ stock size but E load range Falken A/Ts, Frontrunner rack, 375 lbs of people and dog and probably 150 lbs of gear.

I haven't reset it since before lift and tires, not sure I want to. It is dropping and is currently saying 14.8.

I live a 7 min drive from work (it'd be like a 40 min walk since there's no shortcuts or anything -it's 4 kms) so the engine just barely gets warm by the time I get to work.

So, my mileage is pretty piss poor as a result of driving on a predominantly cold engine. I try to be the main guy that drives to lunches so I get to stretch its legs, but my mileage is still skewed.

Before the sprint booster, I was somewhere in the neighborhood of 16.x L/100 kms which is about 14 mpg. Now that i've installed the sprint booster, I got around 15.3 L/100 kms which is about 15.3 mpg.

I've reset the gauge on the highway when I reached a decent speed and I've gotten around 11.2 L/100 kms or 21.x mpg.

Got 14.6 mpg on a 1000-mile trip with 4 bikes standing up behind it on a hitch rack, averaging 75mph. Truck is a 2019 TRDORP with the 3" BP-51 setup and 285/70 KO2s, but around town in Boulder I was getting 16.8 mpg. Thought it would improve in Austin because of not pinning it at all times and not having the bikes whistling around behind me, but even without the bikes it's dropped further and now is showing 13.8 for the past 200 city miles. Just read this hundred pages of posts trying to figure out why, so any insight would be great.

2014 Limited with 3 inch lift and 285/70/17 Ridge Grapplers - I get 16 MPG around town and just under 19 on the highway.

commute via bike (excl. winter)?

No can do. I'm in charge of dropping the kids off at day care so in order to drop em off and pick em up in a timely manner, it's gotta be by car.

Even have 2 motorcycles that are itching to get used during the summer, but apparently people frown on toddlers being doubled on a motorcycle lol

What's your trick? I have a 2018 Limited with 265/70/17 KO2s with an aFe CAI and no lift and I'm not getting that much.

That's strange. I also have an AFE CAI, but your tire size should equal better mileage. However, if your KO2's are E load they are very heavy and "may" be a factor. I got rid of my E load KO2's for the C load Ridge Grapplers and wish I would of started with them.
I also have a Sprint Booster, which depending on how you drive, can improve overall mileage, but just by a little. Maybe that's the trick... but who knows.

2018 TRDOP. Only added weight are C4fab sliders and LFD crossbars (not that much weight in reality), and 2" lift. 60 city/40 highway was averaging 18.3 according to computer (manually calculating was closer to 18.5-19). Added TRD CAI a month or two ago and computer average has been 20.5 (manually calculating closer to 20.5-21) which was a nice surprise. Will be adding 265 C load KO2s next week and hopefully I can stay at least 20 mpg. Also drive like a grandpa.
