Real World MPG with 5th Gen?

Factory ORP suspension, factory Sema/Pro wheels with P rated Nitto TerraGraps in factory 265/70 size. I don't drive like a grandpa, but I don't drive like an ass either.19.7mpg average since new, currently about 18.5K mi on the odo. I'm in S Louisiana, so everything is pretty flat. Our recent trip through Ouachita & Ozark National Forests and running up and down the mountains (such as they are, highest peak is 2550ft), still never dipped below 17mpg.
All of that will change when I put on the Dobinsons lift (3/2.5) and new tires (TBD 285/70s)...but I'm pretty sure I still won't see as bad as you.

2020 Venture stock TX to FL pulling 18’ poling skiff weighs roughly 1500lbs with trailer and saw 14.9mpg running 87oct. Can’t get much flatter and straight than that with an avg speed of 70mph.
Hit 5k miles upon arrival in FL, changed oil at SRQ Toyota for the trip back.

Stock TRDORP here.
Gauge cluster indicates 15.5 mpg since new (2200 miles currently). I drive mostly around town but even on the couple of 4h+ highway drives I’m barely getting better than that when looking at that specific trip average. I do cruise at around 80 mph.
I certainly didn’t buy the 4R for its fuel economy, and knew that going in but the highway mileage is much worse than I even anticipated.
Still my favourite vehicle tied with my E46 M3 I owned many years ago!

Honestly I think i could improve my mpg a touch if i set my tire pressure to 38-40psi but i rather sacrifice a bit of mpg for the more comfortable ride quality, and to my surprise 4psi makes a big difference in ride quality

Yes I can get better if I slow down but up here in Canada traffic flows at 75-80 mph on major highways so I don’t have much choice.
And with two kids under 4yrs old in the back whining, I won’t complain if I get there faster lol

Trying to parse this thread... I just test drove a 4Runner while checking other options that might suit my needs.
Didn't realize these things hadn't really been touched for years... Reminded me of driving my 1994 Nissan 4x4.
Anyway... reading the mileage threads... i see some people who are actually tracking tanks/miles... but lots of spot readings from the cluster.
Trying to find real world comparisons from people who drive theirs in 0-10 F temps all winter... with probably 1/4 time 4wd use or more, to get an idea of how bad things will be for mileage in Wisconsin. When i test drove one of these on a snowy day in 4wd... it drove like my old truck... fought to get up to 70mph and felt like it struggled to stay there. I assume because of the 5-speed+4wd.
For comparison... an F150 in 4x4 with a 2.7t engine did just fine, no struggling.
My guess is it will actually be less than the 18.5mpg combined my '04 pilot is getting. tx

To be fair... Pilot's got awd, not 4wd... and yes... I drive 70-80 most of the time on 65-70 mph roads. That's when roads are dry or only light snowing happening. If we get dumped on... you back down... if you can get around problem drivers...fine... if not... it's not worth risking passing somebody who's driving on bald sxxxy tires, etc.
things that eat your economy up here are winter blend fuel, snow tires, and butt-reaming cold temps (like the current spate of -10+ f night temps we've had lately.

Here's mine through about 10k miles. Stock Bridgestone tires.
Majority of my commuting is 55mph state roads, so basically live in the sweet spot. Recent dip is winter gas and the rooftop ski box.
