Real World MPG with 5th Gen?

Modifications, consistently loaded, towing? My bone stock 03 V8 averaged 17 over 100K miles.

Here's mine through about 10k miles. Stock Bridgestone tires.

Majority of my commuting is 55mph state roads, so basically live in the sweet spot. Recent dip is winter gas and the rooftop ski box.

That's about what I've been averaging after about 10k miles on mine. I drive pretty sedately in it, and usually cruising on 40-50mph city roads and ~65mph on the highway. Lifetime average is about ~19mpg and I've seen a hair over 21mpg on longer highway drives.

think in-town driver, plus towing. i didn't bug him much about it.

I went and test drove again. Honestly, dropping my speed is gonna be a good idea for any of my current front-runners for new car choice. F150, Atlas, 4Runner.... i'd put a lot of mpg back on all of them by driving 70 or less.

FWIW, I'm 12,000 miles in to my 2019 with 265 C Load KO2s, RSG sliders, RCI skids and about 100 lbs of water and safety/recovery gear full time. Combination of city, highway at 4500 feet elevation and over mountain passes. Average 19 overall.

Holy christ. Does he drive with the gas pedal constantly on the floor?

I had an '04 V8. Averaged 17-18 IIRC. Best tank ever was like 22.

Since covid, i have actually had to commute a little more...which means more highway miles, alot less city driving...and my mpg has gotten better

pushing 18.9mpg per the little window in front of me...
ill take it.

come the summertime, ill still park the T4R tho...my Kawi gets 45mpg...

tx for the info... and as a thought... you're right.. not sure I did used to drive either of my 4x4 trucks in 4x4 at 70mph...Now AWD drive stuff. yep sure do when road conditions permit.

my driving consists of 3-4 mile trips in the city. A lot of stop and go. I am getting about 15mpg. no lift or anything. Just running Cooper AT3's in factory size.

For me, winter driving in the city stop and go i get 20L/100KM which equals about 12 mpg... 2019 trd offroad KO2.
Bought it few months ago, changed all the fluids. Any suggestions on how to improve this bismal mileage are welcome.

I am getting the same gas mileage with my 2021 4Runner ORP with my 3 inch lift suspension, full skid, sliders and 285/70/17 Falken Wildpeaks..as I did when the truck was stock.

I am averaging about 300-320 miles before the low fuel warning light comes on and 18mpg. Same driving habits as before too however I do hit cruise control on the highways and set it anywhere between 65-72mph; never higher.

2.5” spacer lift w 285’s and I’m getting 14.4.

Recently changed the plugs w no improvement.

Is what it is.

65-70 is the sweet spot for decent mileage. I’ve got a TRD PRO stock except for RSG sliders. If I stay between 65-70, I get 20 mpg on the highway. It’s really not that bad. Sure....the newest engine/transmission combos like the Ford eco boost engines and 10 speed autos advertise 23-24mpg highway. I have my doubts if they are actually achieving that in real world driving, and even if they are, that 20% advantage is negated by the fact that you need to run premium fuel which carries a 20% premium over regular gas.

2018 ORP with 40k mi bone stock with only a GOBI rack added I get 16.7 averaged between city and highway. I reset it once a month and always ends up at 16.7

Speed limit was 65 mpg.

I'm two years in and get 15.5-16.5 mostly city driving - highway is usually @ 70MPH - since day 1.
