Rear bumper removal

I'd like to take the rear bumper off my 99 Limited. I've got a few rust spots developing and I want to see what I can do to stop the rust as much as possible. Is there a DIY guide to rear bumper removal for my model truck? Any tips, suggestions, pics, or pointers?

Just start removing bolts till it comes off. Fairly simple and straightforward. There were no tricks really when taking mine off ('97 limited) I think rear bumpers remained the same all years.

Will the bumper come off in sections or as one big long piece?

Mine came off as one piece and I separated it off the vehicle. You might have to angle the bumper downward so the sides clear the truck when you pull it off. Remove the spare if you need more room underneath, I didn't need to. If you can remove the top plastic piece while it's on the truck that might help also. It's easy once you get under and just go at it. I did mine by myself and just wriggled it off once the bolts were off. I think there's 8 or 10 bolts total. GL!
