Rear bumper 'step' Protector

The 2nd, 3rd and 4th gen all had a protector for the rear bumper 'step'. The 5th gen is the only one where it's actually part of the bumper cover. I would hate the actual bumper being scratched to hell and back from daily use.
Anyone find a cover for this area or something?
My dogs are killing it jumping in and out....

I'm only superficial until the first couple of scratches happen - just trying to prevent it from going crazy and start peeling the paint from that area.

It would still be nice to add another layer - maybe something not as slippery to that area

You sure on the SR5 it's not just unpainted plastic bumper cover?

The SR5 has a textured black plastic piece to protect the top of the bumper cover. I looked at it carefully, and it seems to be a part of the actual bumper cover. My dogs have scratched that up already, and I have less than 1000 miles. Try using some 3M protective film (the same aftermarket stuff they use on the front to protect from paint chips). Its can be bought in uncut measured strips, so you can cut it to shape. Check eBay, its readily avalable!

Please take a picture if you can. The limited and SR5 bumper cover is the exact same. If I can order the part, I will.
3M is slippery - I don't want a dog breaking a leg.
I usually move a lot of fosters, they don't really take to be carried in and out of a car - they jump down because they're use to it. Greyhounds are very spookish fresh off the track and I would rather have some extra insurance

3M anti slip tape is pretty darn good stuff. Comes in clear,white and black up to 4 inches wide.I've had the black 1 inch on my sliders for 1 1/2 now and still looks new and not slippery at all. Great to stand on to get to the roof, especially when it's wet .

Next time your on an airplane ,look out the window over the wings and you'll see it used for the emergency exit path and it stays on at 530 mph and goes from 60 below at altitude to over a 100 on the tarmac and still stays put. 3M makes some unbelievable adhesives as we actually use some inside the engines too.

Here's one of the cheaper places to buy it because they sell by the yard ,rather then the roll. Non Skid Tape - 3M Anti Slip Scotch Safety Walk Tape And watch the video too.

I was in the Air Force, i'm used to the 3M tape. I might go grab some from the base, better than spending $60 on slip tape.
I was also thinking about cutting some thin black foam/matting and putting it there. Not sure if it'll hold up.
