we're lagging :( So utterly overwhelmed, which is awesome, but good news is we're releasing the STEEL 14+ T4R bumper in about 10 weeks!!! :)

rear hasn't even been started yet :(

Do you know the actual price of the bumper with a tire carrier? I've never seen the actual price posted anywhere for this bumper. It's annoying cause that's the one I want, but don't really know how much to save for.

Their site has all their prices listed. Swing out with tire holder is right around 2,100.
 
4x4 labs has the best looking rear bumper for sure but it is pricey.

Discouraged by the prices and wait times, encouraged me to build one myself. I have just about all the material I need, I have welders, a chop saw, grinders, etc. from when I actually used to build bumpers years ago. All I need is time now. Unfortunately, I have taken on a couple projects at work that has me pretty booked for the time being. Hoping to start on both a front and rear bumper in the winter and wrap them up by springtime.
 
We have been super busy but with the expansion and transition we have been going through recently we have been able to get some help and will be back on to designing stuff for the earlier Toyota platforms as well as finishing some of the platforms we haven't completed.

Let's get on that! I purchased a WILCO Hitchgate to tide me over until you guys get a 4th gen rear bumper released. I'm very happy with my front bumper and like the idea of using a single vendor.

not sure if you are looking for aluminum or steel but Hefty has both for the 5th gen, I will be doing the aluminum version on mine this winter. But I have talked to him and he is doing 4th gens bumpers also (same price and style as the 5th gen) just not on the site yet.

I would love a rear bumper just for the tire carrier option. CBI's is ugly, and the other one is 'ok'. There was some dude on the toyota120 foums who made one that was beautiful but he didn't want to deal with making it for other people. Sad.

would love to find a rear bumper being made that
- increases departure angle
- can handle landing on it or lifting off it
- can add attachment rear carriers
- Must not be a boat anchor
- like the idea of cutting up into the rear fender skin so that it has a straight body/bumper line and avoids that super ugly ass end thing going on with other co's.
 
Yeah 4th gens kind of got screwed in the bumper department, especially the rear! More coming out slowly but were definitely not on the top of anybody's list. The biggest problem with the 4th gen bumpers are that they require a little more fab work and material with the sides (unless you cut into the side plastic which i personally don't love the look of) Which makes them a little more expensive and a little more time consuming to make. Where as if you look at 2nd,3rd and 5th gens there all typically straight on the sides.

4x4 Labs is the best bumper put for us IMO,, all the rest don't give you and extra clearance or departure angle what so ever. The 4x4 labs gives you both of those and is pretty clean looking and not big and bulky like the rest that i've seen. Also you can get just about any added attatchment you want for either swing out, tire carrier,ladder, jerry can holder, bike rack and there all removable and interchangeable. Plus i has the double swing out with i like much better that one big arm.

I just ordered the DIY kit last week with dual swing outs and tire carrier so i should have it welded up and on in the next few weeks i can post some more pics then. The DIY kit cost $1500 with shipping and everything. I think the regular cost for the bumper built is around $2125 according to they're website but thats not including shipping which is probably a couple hundred bucks easy for freight.

Yes me too!!! I know how that is, i've been waiting to do this for a while. Hey as long as your getting out and enjoying it:thumb3: I should have it next week and then i need to plan a long weekend to tackle it and get it all welded up, then off the the PC..
 
I'm seriously wanting to purchase a rear bumper with a spare tire carrier. As of now 4x4 Labs is the only one I would choose, but I hope there is an ongoing update to this thread.

I think what most 4th gen owners are apparently looking for in a rear bumper are:

1) Less bulky which can mean an aluminum or steel option as well as just how the bumper itself is built.

2) A "non-cut" bumper in that the factory bumper is completely removed and not having the bottom half cut off.

3) Having attachment options for example swivel points for either on the left or right side for a spare tire carrier, canister(s), hi-jack mount, and ladder

I already have a factory tow hitch so having a plate rear bumper with a cut out to accommodate this would be another plus.

Honestly, this is an example of why forums exist so that companies can obtain direct feedback from potential customers or obtain a general, but a clear idea if there is a market for their products and services.
