Rear Diff Lock Question

I have a 2000 Limited 4wd 4Runner with a Diff Lock switch in the dash. Is that proof that I have an electronic rear diff lock equipped on my 4Runner or could it only be pre-wired with the switch and no e-locker?

I obviously have not tried this out yet and it's late at night, pouring rain, cold outside, and I'm not in the mood to go out and test it out right now.

Any advice on this is appreciated.

Thanks,

I would think it does. Only way to know is test it out! All you have to do is stop, put it in 4LO and press the button and the flashing light will come on in the dash.

No offense. But if you are asking this. Then please read your owners manual on how to operate the rear diff lock.

2000 Limited would not be a J-shift right?

If so, and you've only got one button to the left of the steering wheel, that's the transfer case locker. It will have a little picture on it, four wheels with a X in the middle.

If you've got that button, plus a button that says RR DIFF LOCK, then you have a rear locker.

I would not expect there to be a switch on the dash that does nothing. There are numerous cutouts for buttons, but they don't install buttons for features you don't have.

Mazda used to. A/C was an option, but all vehicles came with the button installed. Can you imagine the confusion when a new car customer assumed it had A/C and when they went to turn it on there was none?

If you have that button you more than likely have an elocker if it says RR Diff Lock on the switch... That being said my buddy bought a 97 limited with the RR diff lock switch and on the test drive they found a place to test it, hit the button and the light just blinked... They looked underneath and there was no locker in the rear so it is not a guarantee that you have a locker even if you have the switch. Luckily my buddy got the runner for a lot less because it has no locker.

That should be the multi mode 4wd electronic selector.
