2015 Trail. According to the OM when you engage the diff lock, the dash light will flash, then stay on once it's engaged. I noticed the last couple of times I engaged it the dash light would flash, but didn't stay on steady. I didn't check if the tires were Indeed locked. Anyone else notice this?

Dirt works too, you can hear and feel the inside tire dragging in a turn.
I don't use mine in snow, locking the rear can cause sideways slip. I usually use 4H and Multi-Terrain at the first setting. That worked very well on a recent snow trip.

I too worried when I first had the truck a little over a year ago and couldn't get the light to stay solid.
I have been consistently able to get it to engage and disengage by slowly moving forward and turning the wheel slightly to the right. Seems to work too for getting it into 4hi quicker. I noticed the same observation in my previous SR5 for 4hi but it didn't have the rear e-locker. Don't know why the slight right turn (as slight as getting the steering wheel to 1:00 position) seems to get things to engage quicker.
In addition to the other helpful observations above with the tires scrubbing at turns, you should be able to here a metal-on-metal "click" when it engages and disengages.
