Rear driveshaft grease fitting replacement advice

Went to grease my driveshaft and found #6 grease fitting sheared off. I was able to unthread with a T10 Torx bit. My question, has anyone been successful placing a new grease fitting without having to drop the driveshaft? Also, what style fitting is best here...straight or angled...I can't remember what was there before. Thanks!

You can sometimes rotate the driveline to a spot where they go in. They take the angled zerks.
