Rear Engine Seal Leak at 23k! May Not Be Warrantied?!

I would take my business else well. They should want to get it warrantied as they get paid by Toyota for warranty work that in turn provides work for their service guys.

I'd personally call Toyota just like I did with my 3rd gen trans issues. They took care of me and told the dealer what to do. After Toyota called my dealer, their whole attitude changed.

I actually will consider that. I just googled toyota corporate. Was it this number? 800-331-4331

UPDATE: This is the message I got from the dealership: "We opened up the bell housing and it looks like this thing was fully submerged at one point". Crazy I never took it through any water crossings. Well it doesn't look too good

I would call them out on that bs. Hard and loud. Some stealerships will say anything believing the customer won't argue with them.
I actually had to get the Bureau of Automotive Repair involved the first and only time my 4Runner went into a Toyota dealership, to have my windows programmed to roll down with my key fob.

This is possible? How much if you don't mind me asking? PM me if you want.

How did they determine that?

So they've gone from "mods did it" to "mud did it". I'd tell them to put it back together and have a nice day and go somewhere else and you'll be calling Toyota about this because it's some obvious horseshit.

Yes, tell the dealership to stop working on it and you are opening a case with Toyota Corp to find a better resolution as the dealership is clearly not willing to work with you.

My case went as far as a tech from Corp coming in to review the issue. I now have a 100k Toyota $0 deduct warranty as well. Toyota doesn't take these things lightly. Call and express your frustration and how you feel they are running you around.

Look at the Magnuson-Moss Act of 1979. You are covered. Replacing a part with an aftermarket part will only void the part that was removed. So you TRD CAI voided your stock intake. It doesn’t cost them shit anyway, they will bill Toyota. The stealership tried that shit with me on a blown door speaker and said they had to determine if I was listening to it too loud. I laughed, went to another dealer, got it changed, contacted Toyota and blew them up on yelp. The GM was blowing my phone up.

I would have to pay for the diagnostic fee so I'd have to wait and let it play out

Unless you’re not telling us something like you go mudding every other weekend don’t just bend over and give them a blank check. If there truly is no reason this should be happening tell them to stop work and you will be opening a case with Toyota corporate.

Yup, dealer doesn't want Corp calling or bad reviews. This is one reason it is important to build a good relationship with your service adviser. I bring my guy a $10 Chic Fil A gift card each time I go in. A little bit goes a long way when you need something done.

Example: I have condensation in my '17 headlights. He said no problem bring it in and we will warranty it. Took 3 stealerships to find this guy but he takes care of me.

Lol I wish I could offroad more, but my job has crazy hours. The physical appearance of my rig shows that it was never abused.

Still waiting on the final answer, but the advisor just wanted to give me a heads up. I'm on good terms with him, and he helps me out a lot. He just keeps mentioning it's up to the shop foreman

Look at the Magnuson-Moss Act of 1979.

And what? The Act doesn't force dealers to fix things under warranty at no charge up front.

OP can't invoke the Act inless the dealer charges him for repairs. Then OP has to pay those charges pending resolution.

"Magnuson Moss" scares dealers just like any other law scares any other criminal. It means nothing to them until they lose in court. And court is an expensive b I t c h.
