Rear Gate Weather Strip coming off

Need some opinions, please. I noticed today that our 2006 SR5 rear gate rubber weatherstrip is puling away from the body - I've attached picture. The weather strip is still in good shape. It looks like something sticky (like a drink got spilled) and it ran along the back door and when it was opened, it pulled the weather stripping away at the bottom. I've pushed the weather strip back on there and have cleaned up the sticky mess, but the weatherstrip is loose and easily comes off. Should I attempt to use some glue along the edge to hold it on there? Or do I need to order a new gasket? If I use glue, what do you suggest? Thanks!

a little 3m weatherstrip adhesive, used sparingly. Or rtv, if you have some laying around.

Usually weather stripping has a metal insert. Crimp it every few inches with vice grips or plyers then push it back on. If it still comes off easily I'd just replace it. They usually aren't very expensive. I do this at work a lot as a fleet manager of a fleet of livery vehicles. Our chauffeurs drag bags into the trunks all the time ruining weather stripping in the process.

Is that the interior of the lift gate Along the bottom of the window? If so I wouldn’t worry about it. Crimp the metal notches best you can to keep it in place. Mine always comes off when I take off the tailgate interior panel
