Rear Hatch Door Lock Cylinder disappeared

So I went to put the key in to unlock the hatch and the key cylinder just pushed into the hatch. I'm sure someone else has dealt with this so I wanted to get some idea of what I'm going to be dealing with when I remove everything to start the repair.

Just did mine in August. The plastic that holds the plate and the latch just breaks. At a minimum you’ll need the plastic bezel, least that’s what mine took. I went full send replaced the gate harness, actuator, latch, lights, bezel and a new tumbler.

The tumbler mount is pretty weak on these rigs.

It’s not a terrible job. The lock actuator requires drilling and rivets to change. I suppose one could Magyver the tumbler on, but my success rate with plastics is pretty low when using glues or epoxy so I decided a full rebuild just made more sense.

I did a refurb on mine, you don't have to drill anything out but if your rear bezel is in that bad of condition you will need one from junk yard or ebay. They can be a pain to find in good condition. if your really good with epoxy and or body filler I'm sure you could repair your existing one.
