Rear Hatch Help Please

A-dog

I am having an issue with my rear hatch. A few days back, I noticed a mechanical clunk sound whenever I opened or closed the rear hatch, almost like a solenoid was clicking. However, everything still worked (window, power locks). I decided to investigate the problem, and it seemed to make the same click sound when I jiggled the wire pack shown in the picture. I removed the rubber boots from the body and hatch to see if there were any loose wires. I did not see any, and put everything back in place. Now, nothing works. I think the issues is a wire within that rubber hose, or whatever that rubber tube is called. Is there a way to get inside that rubber tube without either slicing it open with a knife, or removing the entire rear hatch? Thanks in advance for your help!

the black part attached to the hatch opens. if you want to check the wires in that section do this:

remove the trim piece inside where the rear dome light is. remove the light first.
disconnect that hatch connector that is above there. remove the rubber boot from the body and hatch and inspect wires. replace in reverse order. the holder opens as mentioned so no need to remove.

So in order to inspect/repair the wires inside that rubber tube, I need to remove the interior dome light? I need to take a closer look because I don't understand how removing that and the interior trim will help me get inside that rubber bundle. I must be missing something.

the connector is above the trim panel. remove it and you will see the harness connector for the hatch. disconnect it and pull it out of the body. remove the boot.

Yeah, necro-thread post.
Does anyone know the part number for that plastic cover that snaps over the boot and clips into the sheet metal? Does it only come with the boot and anyone know that part number?

Thanks!

Just watched that (found with google) that harness is pita. Turned out to be the cause of losing all my tail and gauge lights. So glad you put it up cut my head scratching in half.
