Rear hatch. Part number needed

Rear hatch is working intermittently. My neighbor brought out the mother of all obd readers and it came up with “B2221” 4runner back door jam protection sensor.
Having a hell of a time finding that part though.
Anyone have a suggestion?

The only info I can find concerning the jamb protection and the B2221 code..... it appears that this function is controlled by pulse sensors within the window motor itself, not sure if this is what is causing your issue or not with the door/hatch.

Right. Whats strange in my case though is that the auto up/down function isnt disabled or the manual down via the transmitter isnt disabled. I'll see if my neighbor can run his multimeter on the harness to detect anything.

I’ve had a b2221 for as long as I’ve had my 08. I haven’t had any issues with my tailgate. Could it be possible your motor is just going out?

Had an issue similar to this, ended up being the lock, was totally rusted (number 1 on your diagram). Bought a new one and fixed the issue.

Check for signs of rust around the actual latch, if you see heavy corrosion then that's the cause. Could also try removing to lock and cleaning the rust then coat in white lithium grease. I regretted not attempting that first, could have saved some money. GL.

Oh, just remembered a couple other notes on this.

Firstly, the cause of the rust I believe was the rear window weatherstrip, there was a clear gap between it and the rear window. I highly recommend replacing that as well if this is your issue as you will still encounter water damage.

Also, if there is that much rust damage to the lock its very likely that the rear window regulator will also be rusted. I had to replace this as well as the clips securing the window to the regulator were rust and gave out.

Something to keep an eye out for and don't accidentally open the rear window in the winter when it is frozen, like I did.

While I would also recommend replacing the weather stripping IF it's broken,/torn and or dry rotted and not keeping debris out and sorta cleaning the window properly when opening and closing the window, BUT just an FYI, the weather stripping isn't designed to keep water from entering passed it into the hatch, or any of the doors for that matter, the weather stripping is design to keep out debris and to sorta keep wind noise down and has the benefit of sorta cleaning the window, the hatch and all of the doors have drains in the bottom, if you're getting alot of corrosion and or hearing water in the hatch or doors when opening and closing them the drains are clogged and need to be cleaned so any water can drain out as designed!

Thanks. Theres absolutely no rust to be found anywhere on this 4runner. It began life in Arizona and has been out here in Cali for the last 5 or 6 years I believe.

The weather stripping is toast from the AZ weather I believe. All around the car. Thats the next thing to be replaced.

Hey, did you ever get anywhere with this? My 06 V8 has the same code when it was scanned. My rear window works fine, my wiper only works if I roll the window down and up again (which could be that jam protection sensor) The fob window button will not work. AND here is the weird part, I have to crank the engine, not just turn on the accessories, lock and unlock the car THEN I can open my liftgate.

Resetting the ECU-B didn't work, nor the battery. I have had no luck. Its a rust free rig for the most part. If it is this jam sensor I haven't been able find it..

Yeah I replaced the motor. No issues with it ever again.
