What is the difference between the 6815 listed on Amazon $59 and this one on Ebay for $47.90? Beside the obvious price difference.

Received and installed Strong Arm 6815s yesterday took all of 15 minutes by myself.

My old struts barely held the tail gate open and it drooped in cold weather, The 6815s lift the tailgate unassisted and takes a bit of force too close, I think I am liking the new struts a couple of years use and a couple of Mn winters will be the deciding factors.

Did you replace the bushings? And if so do you have a link for where you got them?

Sorry I havnt visited in a few days.
No I did not have to replace my bushings as they were still in good shape.

If 3D printing the spacers, what would be the best material to print them out of? I am not well versed in the material science of the different materials and a quick google search did not provide me with clarity on what would be best. Should I use ABS, PLA, or Nylon?

I would use nylon for lubricity and wear resistance.

ABS not good for hot environments?

Maybe an engine bay, but for hatch struts?

PLA is way worse for hot environments. Low melting point.

I printed some back in this post out of PLA still fine, just make sure you give it some fluid film or like petroleum jelly like stuff.

they easily withstood summer 100 heat out in the sun all day and MN cold all winter so don't get over crazy about what you print it with. I have been messing with 3d printing stuff for a while now and as long as it's not in the engine bay PLA is ok. even then my 3d printed battery tray is still just fine.

my STL's are in the post if you want them, but just be advised I print my stuff with super close tolerances in mm and all printers are a bit different. so you might have to test and scale a bit, hopefully not.

I found the standard ones on T4R.org, but they only have standard and I was hoping for cold spec.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Suck it up and buy the standards? I was going with these because they include the bushing/spacers, right? I can go 3rd party, I guess, but was hoping to avoid the extra hassle.

I was also hoping to know the answer to this question. The Strong Arm has two versions; one with OEM lifting pressure (#4286W) and stronger than OEM (#6815W). Curious which versions people have tried on their 3rd gens.

I've been using the 6815's for years, no issues. Takes a bit more effort to close the hatch, but I prefer that to the alternative (having your head unexpectedly support the hatch).

I tried a new brand of hatch strut today. I bought some TUFF SUPPORT struts (611033) a year ago, and I just installed them.

In 24 C weather they get the hatch fully open in a few seconds (the last inch takes most of that time). If they last through the cold winter I'll be surprised and pleased. I'm gonna keep the original KYBs and get them rebuilt just in case.

TUFF Support came out with a stronger version (611032) since I purchased mine. I recommend the 611032, they should be even better than the ones I installed, and a pair cost only 30$ from Rock auto as opposed to the 65$ of the Strong Arm 6815.

I'll update this if the replacements fail

Update: Don't get these if you live in a place that gets below freezing

Late reply but it's because if tax reasons. Washington, Jersey and I think Oregon or Colorado all did it I believe. I can't really remember what the tax was exactly but I reached out to them shortly after it happened last year and that's all they would tell me

little parts like hatch struts are definitely not something I'd buy from a Stealership....I got mine from Rock Auto for dirt cheap and they work great. Keeps the hatch open and then it closes when I want.

So yuup, I'd call that a success lol

I'm not sure about OEM stuff but FWIW I also have been running the Strongarm 6815 for over 4 years and the tailgate could still knock your teeth out if you're not ready, even in subfreezing temperatures.
