Rear Hatch/Window Question - Part ID

Anyone know what this black plastic cover should be covering inside of the rear hatch?

I've taken the hatch apart on a 98 and a 02 and I dont recall seeing that cover. It must be deep in there. Try looking at the parts break down on the camelback parts site.

I replaced all the mechanical inerds on my 98 rear door this summer and saw nothing like that. What year is yours?

97, it definitely came loose from somewhere inside the hatch, found it rattling inside, and I hadn't had it apart in over a year.

On a plastic part that big there's usually a part number and RH or LH molded onto it somewhere. You should be able to take the number to the dealer and they can do a reverse look up and give you the diagram for where it is located.

Regulator cover seems to be the only thing that makes sense.
mine was white plastic.

Wow, I was just about to post a rear hatch question. Not to hijack this one, but I'm re-assembling the cover after fixing rear motor. Last piece is the horizontal window weather-strip piece.

Can anyone tell me how to get this thing mounted again? Its got the little 'teeth' on the bottom, but I can't seem to line it up to re-sit nicely on hatch cover.

I'm guessing you mean the piece or weather stripping on the interior piece that covers the hatch.

If so, mine had small metal tabs that held it to the plastic, I bent them all straight and re-bent them to get the weather stripping as tight as possible on the piece.

Yep, it's a pain to get it back in since the window gets narrower as it goes up, but once you get the top part in it stays up without too much of a fight.

Thanks again. That's what I've been doing, but lost patience as I thought it was incorrect method. Going for round 2 now that I know.
