Rear Hitch Bumpers

Good thread. I'm considering ordering the black hitchstep. Unfortunately, Chicago is notorious for thefts, too. (Had my spare stolen a few months back on the street; One block from the Chicago Police Department Headquarters no less).

I've searched the sportys.com website linked earlier, but I find no mention of a lock as an accessory to the hitchstep. I'm assuming that the lock goes through a hole drilled through the straight end of the hitch pin.

At the time of purchase, did you have to order a special lock for the hitch pin? If so, do you have the part's ID number?

Or based on your inspection of the hitch pin, would I be able to utilize a key or combination padlock typically available in most stores? (shackle diameter and clearance permitting of course).

You can buy the hitch lock at any auto parts store.

Last I heard, Sporty's doesn't carry the Go Rhino rear hitch step any more. I've seen another brand that looks almost exactly like the Go Rhino made by Black Horse but I can't seem to find them on the internet anywhere.

2004Runner, I have the Rhino hitch step and I bought the "receiver hitch lock" with it. I was also afraid somebody would just undo the pin and walk away with my hitch step. My lock came with two keys and subtitutes for the pin. You just put the bolt through the trailer hitch and it locks in place. Here is the product and the website I bought it from. I just got the stainless steel rhino hitch step from www.realtruck.com. I picked up a Master hitch lock from Walmart...about $17.

Thank you all for such prompt responses to my question. I'm going to order the hitch step and hitch lock next week after payday. I think it will make a nice addition. My first accessory in fact. Unless you count the Sirius satellite radio on my dash.
