thanks. I added these to my favorites. I was debating on either swap to a OE 06+ tails (around $250 pair) or get nice and bright LED bulbs from v-leds ($50 pair). I think now I want tails from burtman + LEDs from v-led. It will look and function way better than 06+ stock.

Wrong big time there, had some LED bulbs in my 02 4Runner for the tails. The contrast of light between the brake lights and actually hitting the brake was terrible... lucky I didn't get rear ended. I spent about $35 per LED bulb and they suck for berake lights, try it out and you'll know what I mean... For looks and the performance, you can't beat the OEM 06-08 LED tails...

Depends on a LED bulb of course. So you trying to say that this particular bulb will be dimmer than stock? I highly doubt that. Read a reviews where people saying that they are brighter then a Gen 6 Camry for example. Watch a video if you still not convinced. I will get these in a near future and post results here. You will be surprized.

I have been looking at those too....and I am gonna give them a try also .....I have a project in mind and will start tomorrow.. I will post pics with the results....are you getting yours anytime soon ?

I will keep taillight housing OEM just replacing bulb. At $50 I dont think you can go wrong with it

I am doing the same...gonna keep the OEM and replace the bulbs.

These are my stock...
I just paid $6 for the VHT Nite-Shade Lenses spray paint ....and did it myself.....very easy

I bought it at Meijer for $6...but they also sell it at NAPA, O Reily and supposely Autozone. You can also get it on ebay or anywhere on the internet...but you will pay double.

You gotta be convinced that you really want to do it because these is non reversable...once you spray that paint... there is no way of removing it. Make sure you do it in a garage or at least under a car port. Avoid where you get a lot of wind . That will mess the paint with dust.
Too bad I didn't think about taking pics it would be a lot easier to explain




ok....
You will need some masking tape and a bunch of newspaper.

This is how I did it "without" removing the taillights.

Step 1 :

Clean the tails with alcohol wipes and let it dry...do not use soap.

Step 2: (this is the longer step)

I started covering the edges around the tails with the tape , then with newspaper make sure yo dont leave any spaces where the paint can trespass to the car body paint. so I suggest u to put enough newspaper (thick layers) that way you can be sure that the paint is not gonna pass through the paper .Cover the two corners and backside completely... bumper and spoiler.... on the sides go all te way until you cover the back sides windows and all the way down . u wanna make sure you just paint the tails.

Step 3:

Make sure the lenses are clean and no Dust nor bugs shake the bottle for a few minutes...spray a little to the floor away from the car before you start with the taillight.

Final Step 4: follow the instructions on the can..and put as many coats u want ...they recommend no more than three coats. Let the paint dry a bit in between coats..Dont remove the paper until is completely dry (about 1 1/2 hour)

Note: If you want to leave the backing light clear just measure ,cut to fit some tape and firmly place it on that area . Do not remove it until is completely dry.

I am asuming u will need your Dad's permission to do this.....Good Luck !
