Tried searching a bit and didn't see this exact question pop up. Has anyone replaced or had to reinsert one of the sonar sensors? When I bought my 4R there was a scratch on the rear bumper. Dealer took it off and repainted it, but one of the four sensors didn't get reset all the way. I haven't had much time to play with it but figured I'd ask first if there was an easy way of popping it back in before I mess with it or take it to the dealer again.

Originally just slightly loose. Yesterday I took a look at it and it's pushed in out of the little ring/grommet that holds it in place.

If that trim ring is broken you can go to the dealer (Jones Toyota had them in stock) to get a new one- they only cost a dollar or two. Pull it out and take it with you though because there at 2 different versions. One is angled and one is flat. The one in the picture looks flat- but just to make sure...
The sensor just snaps into the back.
EDIT- They (the sensor itself) have to be oriented a certain direction to seat properly too.

Jones is where I bought it, and their "Dr. Jones" took off the bumper to respray for the scratch. Of all things I just ran in to the sales guy at Wawa "Hey how'd they do fixing that bumper scratch?" "Funny you should mention that..."
I think the only issue is that you have to snap the sensor in to the ring before you push the ring in to the bumper, at least that's the way it looks to me. Whenever it stops raining like hell I'll see if I can get some better pictures. The little ring easily pulls out at the moment but it's a hell of a thing getting to the sensor. Maybe slightly easier if I was able to lay down underneath.

Jones blows- I only go there for oil filters and some parts.
You snap the ring on and then the sensor snaps from the back.
You may need to pull your rear bumper cover loose to get to the sensor- it's very easy to do that...
I'm coming to that conclusion. They offered about $2500 more for my Taco than Thompson though and the deal on the 4R was basically the same every dealership I tried. Bill Kidd was a little bit better but he couldn't come close to the trade in and it wasn't enough of a difference for the hassle of two transactions.
So far Jones has done 1 oil change. I'll probably keep taking it there until Toyota Care is done just because it's literally a mile from where I work.
