Rear shock hoop

Are those the TC secondary shock mounts up front? What size secondary shock are you running? Truck looks great man! I just finished my front long travel up and a friend is selling me some TC secondary shock mounts for a great price.

Yeah, its a TC hoop. I'm running a 2.5x8" Fox bypass.

Here's the final product. I have to move the reservoir hoses, but need new fittings. So they'll have to stay like this for a little bit.

Clean looking!
Hows the bolt-on hoop setup holding? seems like quite a bit of force placed on the hoop with no cross bracing or triangulation?

So far so good. They've been put through some rough testing! They aren't the bump stop, so they only have to withstand the compression valving in the shock. If the shock was compressing completely and it was taking bump force, I'd be slightly more concerned. :thumb:

Cool setup. Interested to see how close to the tire the axle mount for the shocks are. Would you mind putting up a pic of the rear tires mounted up, and it sitting on the ground?

Great setup! :thumb3: I have been looking to rebuild my rear to get more up travel out of it and have been looking at options for running a 2.5" shock out board of the frame for more stability. With the shock placement you have, would a piggyback have worked as far as packaging into the space or would it have gotten in the way of the limit strap?

Did you happen to take extended and compressed lengths of the shocks before you put them back together? With the air bumps and what looks like stockish full bump, have you checked to see if the 861's bind at all? I have the same springs and have often wondered how much up travel I can really get before bind.

You mentioned kick the lower shock mounts out towards the tire for hopeful protection. Have you noticed any issues with tire rub or impacts from debris? Would you follow the same approach if you were to do it again?

Any regrets to removing the rear sway bar in terms of handling? I know that will free up the extra space for moving the shocks outboard. With them outboard are you noticing less body roll than when the shocks were in the factory location? I had mine off for a long while due to the height i'm at and the E-locker motor interference with the sway bar. I ended up spacing the sway bar off the axle to get the clearance to reinstall and the difference was night and day after not having it for so long. Just curious if out boarding the shocks would make enough difference in handling to justify removing the sway bar again.

I applaud you for the level of detail in your work. Definitely top notch. :thumb3:

You might be able to fit a piggy back and move the limit strap. I just used that spot because i was going to use it for the shock but couldn't.

I haven't had any issues with damage to the lower shock end or any tire rub.

The shocks are 10" fox with the spacer removed to give them 11" of travel. I also had the shocks cut down 3/4" to reduce their collapsed length.

I haven't had any spring bind. You can't get much more up travel unless you start cutting the body.

My sway bar broke long ago. Not sure how much it would help with the front long travel. Mine doesn't seem to body roll all that bad. Theres some, but not as much as you'd think. Considering I don't have any sway bars.

These rear shocks are a huge upgrade to the Landcruiser shocks I had. Not to mention they can be re-valved.

Thank you very much for the insight. Looks like I have a new project to do when I have some time.
