Rear Spolier Question

My 2001 4Runner didn't come with a rear spoiler. My question is, that if I buy it from Toyota will it come with everything I will need to mount it. I've heard people talk about a template for drilling the holes in the correct location and the rivnuts that need to be installed into the body for the mount screws. Has anyone done this themselves? The dealer wants $150. to put a spoiler on, plus $90. for the part.

Thanks for any info on this subject.

Everything will be included with the package, it just that a lot of guys are a little nervous about drilling holes in their rig, but it is very straightforward. Just buy the package and look at the directions, if you still feel uncomfortable then have the dealer do it, but if you are a little handy , you'll be able to do it. Have fun.

Also , there is a "spoiler" available for 3rd gen, not the wind deflector you want to put on, just another option for you being that you have neither.

There is the black wind deflector that is almost always install at the factory , then there's an aftermarket spoiler similar to the 4th gen rear spoiler, gives it a completely different look, forgot who sells the thing let me look around to see if I can find a place for you, I just thought that since you are starting from scratch you have two options.

Really that is about all they do, other than giving your rig a different look, I took my factory wind deflector off just to see , and they do make a difference with the cleanliness of the rear window.
