Rear springs vs spacers

Im looking to add 1.5-2.0 inches of lift to the rear. Im considering spacers such as the daystar 1.5"/cornfed 2", or the Toytec superflex 2" coils.

Assuming the small price difference is not an issue to me, which will ride better? I understand that the longer coils will allow more travel, but I am worried that because of their 10% increased spring rate the ride will be harsh, especially at low speed city driving on pothole covered roads. Are rear spacers more like front preload spacers or front topout spacers?

I know theres plenty of people out there with spacers/coils on the rear, and Ive searched and read many of your postings about them. Just hoping to get a conclusion on what will give me the best on road comfort, as that is this cars primary use. Thanks!

i replied to your ome/5100 post, considering what you said you wanted, maybe an FJ spring swap frt & r, might be what ya need, it will give u about 1 more in. in frt, & most importantly, will be matched with the rear, asumming you still have stock struts/shocks, then just add the 1 or 2 in spacer to the rear. from my experience, its better for a DD if you keep things matched , as opposed to different brand springs in frnt(ome) than rear(stock), or strut/shock brands frt than rear, etc. this setup will give you ,- same(matched) springs frt & r,- same(matched) strut/shock frt & r,- and spacers frt & r. & should all work well together, with an even better ride than stock, at a fairly decent price.

Thanks Chaz, for replying to both my posts. So for the rear, are you suggesting I do a 1" spacer and the FJ springs to get the ~2" Im hoping for? I guess I could see that as a compromise to all spacer or all spring lift.

i suggested the fj spring in the rear if you also put them up front so all springs would be matched, or made for each other so to speak, from what ive heard, the rear fj springs will only net about 1/2in., maybe a little more, height increase, so a 1 in. or so spacer would also be needed to get close to what you want. but if your not considering the fj springs for the front also, then just use a spacer back there, that way you will still be using all the stock springs instead of having the toytecs in back & stock up front . see what im saying, if you keep the front spacer ur using now, add the fj spring, it will give u another inch, then get a 1 in. spacer for the rear & also use the fj spring, that should give u 1.5 back there. i think u will stll like the ride, but if u dont want to try it, use the stock springs instead. i just think its better for a DD, to go with either all stock springs, or, all fj springs, or all toytec springs. hope this helps.

SO I am confused??? Your signature says you have the 2.5 daystar lift? Are you looking to switch this out. The reason I ask is I am looking at doing the same thing. Only I have no lift at all right now. This is great info! Thanks for starting this thread.
