Rear Turn LED bulbs issues

I tried just to change Turn signals ( 18’ 4Runner ) to LEDs bulbs ( xenon depot 7440 ) but they wouldn’t turn on and turn was flashing rapidly. Do you know if I need resistors for them or is it something else since they wouldn’t ever light up?

If they don't work at all it's probably because the polarity was backwards and you need to flip the bulb in the socket. The rapid flash is caused by the lower voltage so you will need resistors

I flipped the bulb in the socket but still no luck. Will try a different bulb today.
 
If I install resistors in the back do I also need them for the front as well if I was to change the front turns to led too?

Yes you need resistors if you don't want your LED turn signals to hyperflash. How you configure the amount of resistors is up to you, but I setup things so I only needed one resistor on each side. Here's links to my thread, how I wired them & what sizes to use. It's explained in enough detail that you should be able to figure out if you want to use one resistor per side or one per corner. Please note that turn signals will NEVER hyperflash when being testing with the hazard (aka emergency flashers or 4-way circuit).

As for the them flat out not working, the LED's are polarity sensitive, so reversing the bulb in the socket should get it to work. If it doesn't work at that point, then you've got a bad "bulb."

LED's and sockets should be marked as to polarity so they can't be installed wrong. You can also check the front to back ratio with a meter to figure out the bulb. As far as resistors go - the vendor should be able to tell you if they know what vehicle you have.

The added light on reverse is what intrigues me. I'm not really a fan of messing with the circuitry for the tail lights though, was curious how other people like them
 
Are the Rear Turn Signal Light Bulb 7440 or 7443 type? Xenondepot shows as 7440 but I see other installing 7443

Ditto, its all plug and play with one scotch lock... I would buy it again for sure.

The extra reverse is the absolute reason to do it... the added light with out any extra pods mounted to the rear of the truck is the way to go.

Great, now I'm leaning towards module from Diode Dynamics as well :thumb:

Anyone recommend a good rear turn led light as reverse ?
