rear wiper arm misalignment

So after dicking around with a whole bundle of ancient wiring for an hour or two, I figured out how to get the switch rigged back up for my rear wiper- Huzzah! It works! I put a new wiper blade on there to replace the decrepit old one.

However, I'm now having an issue where when I turn off the wiper, it does not return to its OFF position- the little "latch" element on the wiper arm is getting stuck on the little "housing" element on the truck, before it reaches its normal resting place. So then the arm lies askew across the top of the window. It's not a big deal, I can just go around and nudge it into place, but obviously I'd prefer that it worked like it should.

Anyone dealt with anything like this? Do I need to replace the arm? the whole damn assembly (please say no)? I would try to bend it into place, but I'm pretty sure if I did that, the wiper wouldn't wipe the windshield properly.:noidea:
