Reboot Inner CV boot with it still on?

drivers side (replacement) CV Boot leaked fluid on the narrow end because it wasn't installed right, there's a kink in the clamp...so grease oozed out.

is it possible to loosen clamps, repack and reinstall with new clamps...with it all attached?

looking to save time. I suspect the cv joint is still ok, no terrible noises.

Inners, Probably not. I know you can do the outers with the axle still in. But taking it out gives you lot more space to work with.

I don't see why not. Might be easier to use the screw type clamps as far as getting tools in there to tighten them.

Could also use a syringe and thin needle tip or hose to inject between the boot and cv.

A little bit of grease is nothing to get excited about. Throw a hose clamp on it and you'll be good. I've had one on my drivers side for 25k miles and its been fine.

Years ago I worked for Porsche/Audi and at the first major service we pumped some additional grease in all the axle boots. We never had a axle failure. I welded a small tube to a zerk fitting cut the end at a 45' and debured the end. The screw type clamps we used I believe were German. The main difference of the clamps were the edges were rolled so they would not cut the rubber,much better than the type you buy at the parts store. Try Porsche,BMW, Mercedes dealers for this type of clamp.

Yeh I dont see why not. You can easily slide the boot off the inner cup, push in some grease.

Trust me, I did a whole axle reboot without taking out the cup so I know you can get the inner boot off/on with the cup still in place. =]

like mentioned above I don't see much of an issue at all... get some good quality hose clamps (i used mcmaster for the 2 different sizes) and you should be good to go.

Depending on how much grease oozed out I may not even worry about trying to pack more in there. May cause you way more work than its worth and you might loose even more in the process than you'll put in. I have come across multiple people putting on 15-20k miles on torn boots without catastrophic failure.. not that I condone driving around like that, but point being that if you still have a decent amount of grease in there clamp it up and forget about it.
