I am interested in buying a 1995 4runner, with a manual transmission and and replaced 3.0v6. It has 144k miles on it. Needs some new rear coils or some spacers put on it.

If I did buy this thing could I bring it in to a Toyota shop and have them replace the head gasket on this non original engine. I'm leaning toward a no, at this point but I am not an expert though.

Anyone able to help me out here.

appreciated,

Mark

if the runner has a open recall (as in never been done) most dealerships wont check to see if the engine matches the car.

you can call and give them your vin and see if it has any open recalls. last i checked, toyota wasnt doing the 3.0 recalls anymore but early this year our dealership did one so im not sure.

if it has an open recall. roll up to the dealer and they will write you up. they usually write down the vin off the door or on the dash
