Recipe for 35's???

Another thing to consider is most 35's are not true 35's. More in the 34 range. The General Grabbers are 35". So, do some research, a 285/75 / 305 or 315 may actually be about the same size or maybe a ½" smaller, at which point, that ¼" of extra clearance really isn't going to matter much.

Did that yesterday, and I might be going 305/70/17...

Granted that's on my 4th generation, but the frame and wheel wells are close enough that it's a good indicator for a 5th generation.

When I was over at demello a few months ago I was talking to them about their experience with 35s on their 5th gen. Having both a 4th and a 5th gen on 35s, they said fitting them on the 5th took a lot more work. A lot more cutting and fabbing was needed.

If you absolutely have to have 35s over 34s start with a 0.5'' or 0.75'' BL(0.5'' wouldn't hurt for a true 34'' too).

Aggressive wheel offsets(anything past +/-0) and wheel spacers is what makes tire clearance very difficult as the increased scrub-radius just jams the tire into everything.

I've got 285/75/17 KM2s(33.9'') on FJ steelies(+18mm offset) and TC 2'' long travel on my 4th gen. 0.5'' Bandi body lift was the first step. Clearances are about as conservative as I could get given the tires/LT(not willing to run a big 1''+ BL).

1/2" body lift actually makes quite a bit of sense... Should be a quick and easy install and provide a decent amount of additional clearance for 34/35s. I might try it. My only issue is that I've done some custom bumper tubes on my truck and it will create a bit more gap.. But it is so tight now that it should be OK with just 1/2". But then I will need to buy some 315s LOL

Contact Bandi. Super easy install. Great thing about 0.5'' is that there is no need for modifications to fan shroud or other items like some other BLs. There wasn't any need for a steering shaft spacer on my 4th gens with the 0.5'', I *believe* 5th gens are the same.

35s

Hey Neighbor! How you doing on your 35" tire research? I want to do long travel but lack of money and daily driver thing is getting in the way dam it.
