Recommend me a lift...

For my ‘14 Xreas limited. Preferably something that installs on top of the strut and not over the spring. I was going to switch out the Xreas to 5100s but it’s my wife’s DD and gets limited off road use. We do take it to the snow and do travel a lot of logging roads in the summer. Not looking to rock crawl. Just need a budget diy kit and something tall enough to protect my auto running boards.
Thoughts and recommendations appreciated.

All kidding aside, I have the exact same rig as you - 2014 Silver Limited w/XREAS. The cheapest and easiest way to gain lift is with spacers - $40 - $100 on Amazon. I started with a spacer lift myself and found the ride much harsher than before, so I ended up removing XREAS (and the spacers) and installed the Toytech BOSS suspension kit for around $1200. The difference is night and day, both on and off-road. No nose dive when braking, no body roll on sharp turns and it eats up speed bumps like butter. None of these issues were helped by spacers, and in fact, most were worse with the spacers.

Hope that helps...food for thought if nothing else.

Almost as useful as the "Search" feature since this has only been discussed in depth, too many time to count.

Thanks for that added help. As I can read in your sig. you have a very trail capable rig and should have invaluable information. But since you like to frequent “useles”threads and crap all over them shows me your a big headed d bag flaunting your bad azz keyboard muscles

Thank you for the info and time. I can take the humor as it is dished but not appreciative of sarcasm from trolls looking to put people down.
This is exactly what I was hoping to find without scrolling through old threads. Also keeps me from wasting my cash and time

When people come in and start asking a question that has been asked, hashed, discussed, it show's one's lack of consideration be creating yet another worthless thread that is not needed.

There is so much information here that one should read through the "Stickies" and do some research before posing an uniformed question.

Do yourself a favor and all of us a favor and do some serious research and figure out what's out there and then ask questions about a lift.

Or how about you can skip over the threads that have been discussed or hashed out a thousand times and save yourself the headache of reading a post you feel inconsiderate. I am sure there are many readers looking at this thread looking for the same info and are unsure to post due to the criticism from dudes like you. Everyone starts from scratch and most are eager to learn. I have used the search function and read through very helpful threads. I’ve been an avid wheeler for 25+ years and have had a share of trail rigs. No rookie here. Just new to the 4Runner and looking for some current info from guys looking to help. Thanks for all of your added directions and will not stop posting questions that I have.

Just an FYI it's threads like this that make it more challenging to find relevant information. What your doing is being a tourist in an online community. You make an account, you ask a question that's been answered a 1000 different times, you clog up the search results, then you go on your way. You talk like we owe you a immediate answer to your question like this is some sort of message board or chat room.

But go on tell us how you went from cheap lift solution thanking someone for suggesting a 1800+ suspension system that isn't even a complete kit. Tell us what a great idea it is to make face value decisions off what people suggest at that particular time on the internet. Try reading more and acting less like the world owes you something.

Give me, give me, I deserve, now, fast, me, my, I... that's you

Thank you captain obvious. I stated I am new to the 4Runner scene and not building a rock crawler.

Yeah because the 4runner has some utra complex new school suspension right mr expert? Super duper complex so you had to refer to the experts. All of us non 25+ years of experience plebs.

Some experts, some novice and some super rude and unhelpful.

Well when you treat a forum like a message board what do you expect? These forums are a 90's creation. You would think somewhere in your 25+ years of experience being entitled that you would have picked up on how they work.

aaaaaaannnnndddd that's all she wrote. It's been fun Mr Duckypoo but I know when I'm talking to a brick wall. Enjoy whatever off hand suggestions you put on your truck. I hope your wife loves it and you don't.

That's a damn nice looking rig. I would second the ToyTech Boss suspension. I got the Boss for the extended length shocks since I have KDSS, you may want to do the ToyTech Ultimate instead which would be cheaper. You can call them and they will be able to help you make a decision.

I guess since the 5th Generation has been out for so long all questions have been answered, so maybe the owners can just shut down the 5th Gen forum down. Just post a message that says for any questions use the search feature of the site.

Im a fan of the adjustable 5100's up front. For Rear a spacer and leaving everything stock would be cheap. If new rear springs and shocks are within your budget it will perform better than the spacer for sure.

Im running spacers in the back with the 5100's maxed up front. The drive is considerable improved over stock, especially cornering. The rear end does have a dropping feel when wheeling over larger obstacles...

Thank you. I was leaning towards a spacer lift but looks to be a better option to loose the Xreas and spacer idea and upgrade the suspension. Sometimes, you need to get by the BS to get to the helpful stuff.

I’m sure my wife will like it and yours probably will too. Not a brick wall but won’t be pushed around. And way to date yourself with the ace gif. How about you step off and let my thread die.
