Most auto parts stores offer a loaner ball joint press. Hell, jou could even take the upper control arm off and carry it to a shop. They might charge $60 to press it.

Man they listed so much stuff.

They want $250 to press the ball joint
$150 just to install the cv that i already have.
$500 for steering rack, plus $300 for labor.
$50 to install sway bar bushings, plus $25 for the parts.

After that i stopped writitng stuff down cause i knew there was no way i was letting these guys touch my runner.

I'm looking to see if I can't find a trailor i can fit it on. My girlfriend's dad said that he has a press at work. So now i just got to figure out how to get it somewhere that we can work on it.

Damn dude, that sucks! I just got off the phone with Doug and he told me what happened.

I always wondered what would happen if something seriously F'd up happened on the trail like this. I'm glad to hear that you were in good hands with the guys from t4r.org and Co4Lo. :bigok: I know several of them and they are stand up guys!

If you don't have it fixed by Friday, let me know. I'll leave Saturday morning and help you fix it Sunday.
 
Jeff, if you need, I have AAA and can get free tows whenever. I have done it for friends many times. I'll happily head over there sometime and get it towed somewhere for you. Just let me know. My number is on the Co4lo members contact page.

Thanks for meeting up with me this morning and getting me the tow! I really appreciate it.


Well totalling it up now, this is where I'm at:

-$130 for upper and lower ball joints
-$75 for new extended front brakelines.
-$120 for a tow truck
-$100 for quote from shop

total so far: $425

OK I know this is old (kinda) the $130 for Upper and lower ball joint seams like a great price. Most places I checked at want 120 just for the lower. Found a hook-up through a friend that can get them( Toyota) for $85 ea for the lowers. Is that in the price range you paid for yours? How is your truck doing, is she all better yet?

**Also had a few sources tell me that when we have our trucks lifted and we wheel them frequently to check ball joints anually and expect every 2-3 years we might have to replace them.

yep. $83.99 Lifetime warranty at the auto parts store. I'm getting her all fixed up this weekend. :trophy:
 
I am glad she is getting all fixed up. I need to hurry on mine since i htink they are starting to clunk going over bumps in the road now. I am hoping next week. Just got timing belt and all the other associated maintenance up there done.
