Regular Headlight Bulbs

How long would it take to run silverstars before oxidation occurs?

ALSO, Saker when you adjust your beam, do you draw a line from 20-30 feet and after installing HID you adjust the beam to the same line from same distance?

Thanks!

I always measure center beam at the lens, out 25' mark the wall and adjust 2.5 ~ 3" minimum below the line marked on the wall.

The silver star zxe didn't oxidize the replacement headlight housings. Ran them for 2 yrs. They burn a lot cooler.

Also, the fogs are H16, not H11. I was mistaken. (This is on my 15 TE)

Be careful with "50W" HID kits, as many vendors simply use a standard 35W HID bulb and overdrive it with a 50W ballast. You do get more light output (but less of an even light spread). As a result of overdriving the bulb, it will burn hotter, and burn out prematurely. Buyer beware.

I used to run Silverstars in my FJ but got tired of replacing them every year. Changed to Piaa's and those lasted 3 years then changed over to Philips Vision plus, I put the same in the 4Runner. So far so good plus I like that I can get them locally instead of having to order them. I know that bulbs didn't last as long in the FJ because of the DRLs so hopefully these will last twice as long in the 4Runner.
