reliability question

I have an 03 V8 sport with 130k miles on it. I bought it in 06 with 45k miles on it. i keep up to date with maintenance and was just wondering at what point people started having issues with major repairs (ie trans, diffs, motor)?

It is used pretty much used around town and for road trips. every once in a while very light off road use or towing a small trailer w/ motorcycle

Just asking cause i love this truck, paid cash for it when i bought it, and would like to get an idea of what kind of life i can expect out of it

I just bought my 4runner 3 weeks ago, and the whole reason i went with it was the reliability. I wanted something that I could take to the mountains, carry the dog, get me through snow, drive me to work, look good, and last a long time. If you look on auto trader there are many 4runners with 200K+ miles on them still going for a pretty high dollar. This tells me that the 4runner lasts a long time. Which is one the main reasons i went with one, and another reason why they hold there value so good.

Can't say for sure...but all indications is that my 4runner is as reliable as my 90 and 98 Pathfinders. I had well over 300k miles on them when I got rid of them...and the engine and tranny were running perfectly when I did. I expect to get at least 300k miles on my 05 4runner V6. I have a little under 200k miles now.

My current T4R is my 3rd. I had 205,000 on my '90 with no issues and my friend that bought it had 375,000 at last count with no major repairs. I had 152,000 on my '00 when I sold it in very good condition with no major repairs, either.

I also had 3 other Toyotas: an 81 Celica that I sold at 178,000 in showroom condition; an '88 Camry that I sold at 215,000 with a tranny that was beginning to act up as the only issue; and a '97 Camry that my son is still driving with 198,000 miles and no issues.

After awhile, I got to a point that the domestic cars that I also own are pieces of crap if they ONLY go about 100,000 - 150,000 miles when something expensive happens.
