Remote start - Excalibur by Omega?

Has anyone had the Excalibur by Omega remote start installed in there 4Runner? There are not many local shops in my area that install/sell remote starts. I found a shop that sells and installs Omega brand remote starts. Hoping someone on here has some experience with this brand/model.

I haven't, but I suggest you look at a couple of vehicles your place of choice has done. Pay attention to how neatly they put the under dash / hood wiring back and look closely at any splices. Did they use a quality splice or a cheap wire tap.

Odds are good that most future problems will be tied to a sloppy install. Also, make sure they provide you a good (well labeled and easy to read) wiring diagram and added wires and connectors have labels or numbers and match the drawing. If they include measurement values after install, so much the better. Look for a good manual too, because when it breaks a few years from now and the place is out of business that's all you're going to have to troubleshoot with.

I don't have experience with either of those but I did just have CompuStar G9 installed and I absolutely love it!

I have a funny story about Omega.

I love the guys there at Omega, HQ in Douglasville ga. About 40 miles from my home in Atlanta. They are off route 20 exit 42, first light make a right, next intersection make a left go down to miles then make a right and it's the first industrial park on the left.

I know where they are I think lol. I took a job there when I moved to Atlanta. I only worked there one day for tech support.

First and foremost it was far from me. The traffic would be 4 hours roundtrip back and forth to work. Having young kids and new city with no backup in case of emergency. I could be that far away from the family of something happened.

Second, a few days later I realized it could never have work for me. My love for Compustar runs real deep in me. I kept comparing omegas stuff to Compustar.

I consider Compustar the best in the market as far as flexibility, upgradable, configurable and expandable. It has become a product that has changed the industry.

So far I have been supplying DIY guys systems for 4 years. Only two have not worked and both had nothing to do with the installs. Just defective hardware. That's not including the 4-500 that gets done for my dealerships thru out the year for my dealerships.

Omega is a much smaller company with a ton of patents that the industry pays royalties for. They have good products. They use similar hardware for interface module.

It's personal preference.

I also recommend Compustar. Former DEI guy here but Compustar seems miles ahead of them in just about every way. I'm one of the DIY guys gshadow325 sells products to. Everything you need is in the box, no surprises. I've heard of Excalibur alarm/remote start units but I thought Code Alarm or Audiovox owned them, never installed their products. I've also never heard of Omega before.
