Removing PlastiDip ??

So im debating on plasti dipping my rims because i did my emblems and front grill and it turned out awesome, trying to figure out how you remove plasti dip because if it envolves scraping then i do not want to put on my rims just in case i dont care for it. I have a spare that i will do first but if anyone can tell me how difficult it is to remove would be very helpful, Also any pictures with a galactic grey 4runner or something close to that color with the FJ rims painted black would be wicked but probably more trouble than its worth to find.

it just peels off. just start rubbing a corner and it will tear then just start peeling. the thicker you put it on the easier it will be to come off.

See I never understood how durable this stuff is... I mean it sounds pretty easy to rub off, so wouldn't it just get ruined offroad our after use pretty quickly?

Had mine on for about 6 months and I have taken it out a handful of times. It does start to peel a little here and there but its not meant to be a permanent paint job. Just allows you to see how it would look or for quick fixes.

This is what I've been thinking too but you only hear good things about PlastiDip on here so I'm starting to come around

Unless your scratching up you runner Everytime you hit the trails your plasti dip will hold up. Like I said 6 months of off roading, high pressure washes, and daily driving and its still there. I'll take a pic tonight.

I've sprayed 2 different sets and made the mistake both times of going too light in the hard-to-reach areas. It made peeling it off a pain as it was too brittle to remain one solid piece.

Stuff is pretty tough. Did the grill & emblems on my VW & use to scrub the hell out of it to get the bugs off. I know it's not as rough as off road, but unless you get a rip, tear or a hole in it, it will hold up. Once there is an opening it is really easy to just peel off, a little time consuming though. CrimsonCountry's link is spot on. I have done my wheels & they are holding up pretty well. Kinda messed up in some corners, but it's hard to notice. Waiting for the spring to respray. Anyone thinking about doing it, should!

I used a clearcoat to protect the finish, and If i choose to remove it ill use goo Gone
