Removing Stock Crossbars

I am trying to remove the stock rack/crossbars... they will not freaking budge -- well they will move, but I can't pull them up or pull them out.

Help?

If you're talking about what I think you are, you have to remove either the front or rear end caps on the rails and slide them out. Just be very careful, those end caps break easily.

It's best to loosen all the rail screws so the end caps will come off without breaking.

I looked over the end caps.

Removed them, cleaned 19 years worth of gunk. Waxed.
Enjoyed a day with them off. (something bout a bald runner... )

Good deal. Hope you used some silicone in the holes before putting the rails back on...
Would've mentioned that, but didn't know you were planning to take the entire rack off.
