I'm working on my daughter's 1998 4runner. Her wood trim pieces look terrible so I found a 1997 limited(hers is not) in a Upull place and grabbed the center console and both side door trim pieces. The center console and passenger side worked fine. When I tried to fit the old window switches into the new trim- I noticed that the window switch module was slightly different than the one currently in her car. So I went back to the Upull place and got that window switch module and put it in her car. The first time I tried to move her driver side window- it moved down a quarter of an inch- and just stayed there. From then on none of the windows go up or down. I switched back to her old switches and everything worked just fine- all the windows worked so I didn't blow a fuse in the car. The plug seems to work when I put the limited window switch module in. Does anyone know if the two modules are different, or did I just get unlucky and have the new one go bad on that first try. I hate to order a new module just to find out the wiring in the limited is different.

According to the 2002 Wiring Diagram, there doesn't appear to be a difference between the switches. I know the wiring for a 2002 is different than a 98, but it seems feasible that the power window wiring the same year models would be the same. Whether or not the wiring in the 97 is the same as it is in a 98 is another story.
You could try finding the part number for your daughter's truck and then cross-reference that part number to see what other vehicles it is compatible with.
I am a little confused about what you mean by "module" though. Can you post a pic, or explain in more detail just to make sure we're on the same page?
By module, I mean when you take the driver side door trim piece out there is a piece that has a plug-in that consists of the 4 window switches plus the door lock switch and the child lock out switch. So 6 switches in all in that module. The square mirror switch transfers just fine and worked either way.

Looks like nissanh has answered your question. Part number is 84820-33060 and appears to be the standard module for all 3rd Gen 4Runners with power windows.
