Mountain mining roads are a little different (not much). Doing laps in desert mud trashes the area. Nothing (well very little) gets maintained in SU. When it gets trashed they close it off, and takes forever to heal, if ever. Whatever the wind can fix, since no rain very little flora growth. Speaking of wind, you know what else is awesome, when someone take a shit and buries it in the desert, guess what happens? The wind blows, TP gets stuck in bushes, excrement dries out and rolls around the primitive campsites, forever.
Just saying, people should save shitty (rowdy, fun, reckless, whatever you want to call it) behavior for rec areas that limit the damage to smaller managed areas.

You know, you use to be able to drive up to cardiff pass via big cottonwood in the wasatch, epic spring skiing... until people started making their own roads all over the valley bottom.
