My rear wiper and defroster has to be reset by making the rear window go down and all the way up and then they work but when I stop the truck and restart it the problem come again!

How do I get it fix once it for all?

Thanks

Are the other one-touch features and radio reset each time as well?

If so have the battery checked (check your terminal connections to the battery are tight also, you never know)

have you guys tried resetting the computer by disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes???

No I did not but yesterday I found another problem I could not open the rear hatch the only way I could is to turn the key on and play with the open door switch in driver's door then it unlocked the rear hatch door.

I will try resetting the computer like you suggest maybe it will fix everything

May times with no results. Also, disconnected the rear ECU connector. Last check confirmed that there is power to the ECU with the key off or on.

It might just be the ECU. I believe that there was a Tech Bulletin out on the ECU.

My wife's rear wiper and defroster quit working also, after I disconnected the battery to try to reset the TRAC/VSC lights. Uuuugh!!! Now what?!!!?

Just had that happen to me last weekend. Rear wiper and defroster didn't work until I checked to see if the rear window worked. After I pushed the rear window buttons up/down, I checked the fuse, and then both defroster and wiper worked.....no explanation.

Everytime the battery is disconnected you need to re-initilaize the rear gate functions as well as the one-touch features like driver's side auto up/down and sunroof auto close/open. This is normal.

The issue Martno996 is having is it seems the re-initialization needs to be done each time the vehicle is started. This is usually caused by a faulty battery. Have seen this many times with audio junkies running extreme systems, the battery just can't take it.

My question , which hasn't been answered, are all the one-touch features resetting (and the radio presets) as well or just the rear gate functions? This should help narrow down the possibilities

My problem is a repeat problem, when I stop the truck and restart it I always have to bring down and fully up the rear window to make the wiper and defroster work, I just want it to work without playing with the window.

I will try to recharge the battery, the battery looks new but it's a truck (4runner `03) that I just bought and is in excellent shape but maybe it didn't run a lot lately

Mine has stock electrics and just for giggles, I hooked up another battery to it today in parallel. No solution. Same problem.
