Replace CV Axle or Tighten Clamp

I'm not really sure what you're asking. The ear clamps open up like a bracelet. After cutting the OEM clamps off, simply fit the Oetiker clamp over the CV boot, tightening it by hand as best you can so the teeth grab. Then use CV clamp pliers to crimp the ear. This pulls it super tight. Permanently.

Maybe the aftermarket Oetiker clamps are different, the factory ones have a small strip of metal that pokes through the overlapping band and prevents you from opening it up. Wish I had a picture to better explain.
