Replace CV boots at time of lift?

I've been reading about cv boot replacement vs cv axle swap. It seems a lot of people have trouble real soon after lifting.

My boots are currently ok but they're 18 years old or so now.

Would it be worth changing them, possibly for the "long travel" boots made by all pro, while the front end is taken apart?

Or do I just wait till I have a problem and tear it all apart again?

My other thought was to swap in reman axles and reboot my OEM's and keep for spares. But that seems like a waste of money when I have good axles.

Short answer, you may as well reboot them now. If it's not convenient to do it now then no biggy, people go with ripped boots for hundreds of miles and then just reboot it once it rips.

I have been lifted 2.5" front 3.5" rear for about 6 years now.

One side ripped after about 4 years of being lifted and the remaining side has held up fine so far.

There are better things to spend your money on.

Do a visual and if the rubber looks like it is on its way out then you know if it time to reboot.

I don't know what kind of maintenance you have done so far but preventive boot maintence should be a lower priority than say plugs, plug wires, fuel filter, radiator, LBJs. (Use OEM for all those)

I've done plugs, wires, and timing belt/wp in the last 15k miles. I'm manual trans so don't know if the radiator is a big deal for me.

Fuel filter is good idea.

I'm planning to do LBJs and tie rods at the same time the lift goes on. Since i'll have it on a lift i'll probably do new bushings on the steering rack and sway bar
