Replace rear wiper blade??!!

Hey guys, i hate sounding like a complete noob but i went and bought a new 13" blade from canadian tire and then saw what i was dealing with.. it looks like the little rivet is holding the old blade to the arm which also has the plastic piece screwed on which lines the wiper arm up in the little slot when it is not being used.. do i have to get it from the dealer.. i still dont see how i can remove just the blade with replacing the whole unit.. ill get pics tomorrow if it will help anyone out, thanks!

New blade from the dealer is like 5 bucks.

The rubber part slides out, remove the 2 metal pieces, install the metal pieces on the new blade, slide it back on. Easy peasy.

I made the mistake of buying a rear blade from Auto-zone. It was pretty easy to setup but it was shaped slightly different and ended up scratching my paint pretty good.

Just get the Toyota part.

x2 on getting the Toyota part. I don't think anybody makes a blade to fit the rear exact besides Toyota. Shout out to Groove Toyota on South Broadway in Englewood, CO, they gave me the wiper for free.

I bought a blade from Advance that you custom size yourself. It was real easy and works good if I was to ever use it.

I know because I just did this.

I will say that brian is correct - you have to be careful to make sure it doesn't scratch the paint. In my case, it was easy - had the wife turn it on and operate it as I stood back there watching.

I did this a couple months back and just slid the new "rubber" off the new windshield wiper and onto the old wiper arm...took me a minute to figure that out too. I just reused the old assembly with a new blade. I feel like a bought a rain-x 13 inch and i might have cut it to size.

The problem is that the 3gen rear wiper does not acept standard wiper blades like it does in front. The only part of the rear wiper that can be replaced is the rubber itself. It is recommened to just get the part from toyota for this. Of course you can do it yourself but if you are at the dealer they should be able to install it for you. It is easy but it is also different than the standard way wipers are replaced.

I got mine from the dealer too and it wasn't even over $10 for the wiper and the blade and swapped in less than a couple minutes.

Rear wiper frameless?

Bump.

So I was perusing Advance Auto the other day and, outta nowhere, they had a 13" frameless blade with an adapter that looked like it would fit the rear wiper arm in stock. I shoulda bought it then but wanted to do some digging on here first.

I can't stand the normal sprung wipers - they streak, they wear out, and they remind me of my old Isuzu Rodeo. ::shudder:: I know I can add frameless 17" blades to the front windshield, but really want to find a way to do frameless front-n-back.

Long story short, has anyone ever installed a frameless wiper on the rear? Problems? Anco adapter work?

Order this.... Have mine for a few years and works great... Might have a bend the arm a bit so the wiper blade makes full contact but works great

I saw a thread maybe a month ago about a guy who cut the rivet off, bought some super flex wipers (no idea of the brand) and put the adapter from that kit to for our truck. His blade was slightly big and pushed the blade off to one side. I'd probably just get the dealer blade since I NEVER EVER EVER use the rear wiper.

Make sure you order fresh hardware! Luckily I had a spare tailgate to get the screws off of because mine were seized in the arm. Had to drill the old ones out and use the screws off my old lift gate (which luckily were not seized!)

Used to drive a Rodeo myself. Had a lot of fun in mine, taught me a lot.... Like go buy a Toyota lol

Anco 48-08 recommended.

Just wanted to post pictures and note that I had to use sand paper to shave one side down. Wasn't necessary, but did so the wiper can sit square to the window. Great solution for cheap fix. With this, attachment a 12" (which is hard to find) will work on center. If the pivot hole on the wiper is off set, you can use a 13" which is much more common.
