Hi All,
I bought a Pioneer AVH-X8500BHS radio. It worked great except sometimes the touch screen on the left wouldn't register. So I got another one from Amazon and I need to send the old one back tomorrow (well today now). So I unplugged everything from the old one and plugged in the new one. All worked great so I started the process of putting the radio back in place. After screwing it down into place I decided to test it before putting the bezel back in. It would not power on.
I unscrewed it and checked and everything was in order. The fuse on the radio was good as were the two 20a fuses under the hood for radio. So I decided to try to "old" radio that had worked before. Same thing. No response.
So I got out my multimeter and tested. Putting the ground on the black wire and positive on the constant 12v yellow, I get a reading of 12v.
Putting the ground on the black wire and positive on the red 12v acc wire I keep getting 17.x. I am not sure if this is an indicator of an issue since I am not get 12v like I should. Is this the problem?
Other things to note: I have a parking break override hooked up. Worked fine before. I have steering wheel controller unit hooked up. I also have a reverse wire hooked up.
For grins and giggles, I hooked up the radio to a computer power supply and booted up just fine...
ANY idea what might be going on here??
EDIT: For MORE grins and giggles, I took the 12v acc line from the after market harness and connected it to the 12v constant and the radio powered right up.
