Replacement Alternator

I believe the bearing in my alternator is going bad and was looking for a replacement. How much should I expect to pay for everything I'll need? I checked ToyotaPartsCheap.com and wasn't sure if it included everything I'll need. I know AircabinMan has a quality Timing Belt kit, are there any members who have had good luck buying a replacement Alternator? Any insight and help is much appreciated!

I believe the alternator is a single piece but while you have the belts off you might as well swap them for new OEM ones.

My alternator is not as strong as it once was. Have you heard of "the big three upgrade"? Read BigFishAllDay's thread or do a search.

No I hadn't, but after looking at it I'll definitely consider that if I start adding anything that would strain the electrical system.

If you still have a factory Denso, I would look into a rebuild before I would buy a cheap after market unit. Those Denso's are built tough and letting one go as a core on a cheapo is bad business in my view.

When my OEM DENSO started making noises, I opened it up and the bearings were bad. Ordered new ones from ebay, sourced a new rectifier and voltage regulator locally, new brushes and put it back together.

Using only second-hand knowlege I was under the impressing that alternators could not be taken apart to be fixed. I believe it is the bearing that is going bad on my alternator, do you have any info on how you did your repair?
